Trailer Talk: Paranormal Justice: Fallen Chipmunk

Daddy's Home
Will Ferrell fights another guy for the affections of someone close to him in a polite version of Step Brothers, only now he's up against his stepchildren's real father Mark Wahlberg who for some reason has returned home to his ex-wife...A first trailer, but one that doesn't make a whole lot of sense or a single laugh.

Macbeth
Ahh, the infamously cursed Shakespearean masterpiece is back for another adaptation - now with added Oscar potential! I've never been a big fan of the word-for-word adaptations which made the likes of Kenneth Branagh famous, but this more artsy approach for the Bard does add extra appeal. Plus, Fassebender and Cotillard are a great acting duo, so seeing them together ahead of 2016's Assassin's Creed movie would be a good insight to what's ahead for fans of that property.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension
The final chapter...allegedly. After taking a year off and making an unsuccessful spin-off in early 2014, the franchise which created a whole array of low-budget copycats is finally reaching an end with a combination of its predecessors and every other horror movie out there. Best thing to get out of this trailer? The fact you can follow them on SnapChat - one of the oddest forms of social media promotion out there.

Hitman: Agent 47
You have a mysterious assassin whose name is apparently a number, and you decide to bring a gun to his interagation where he's only stopped by handcuffs? Policemen are silly. Anywho, you can tell this is a video game movie by its editing, visual effects and acting. The only thing here which makes me curious enough to see the film is the large array of the same blue car during the crossroad shoot-out. Seriously, they're all the same!

Sleeping with Other People
Well hey there current-favourite-person Alison Brie! Fancy seeing you and (briefly) Adam Scott here in an anti-Friends with Benefits feature - which is a little low on laughs and high on predictability, but harmless enough for a potential viewing. Although I may be being biased because of Brie. Maybe. Probably. Maybe.

He Named Me Malala
The story of Malala is one worthy of the recognition she's received, and documenting her life since the events which occured to her and how a normal girl has become a form of spearhead is one that people can easily be interested. Add the rather nice animation transitions present, and this certainly could be one to watch.

Legend
With a somewhat iffy opening and its somewhat debatable editing choices, the rest of the trailer for this Kray twins biopic is one filled to the brim with greatness. Music choice, editing, and what appears to be some great performances by Hardy, Hardy but also all the characters not played by Hardy. I'm game.

Secret in Their Eyes
Based on the 2009 Argentinian film of the same name, this thriller does certainly look interesting, with cops potentially going off-book to catch the killer of one of their own's daughter. The lead performances by Ejiofor, Roberts and Kidman look set to be strong, and the direction seems nice enough. But if there's one criticism to be made, it's that the idea that Roberts may go a little too rogue was played off way too soon for this first trailer. It would have been a good surprise kept within the film.

Snowden
With no actual footage of the film present, this little fact-file on the US Most Wanted ahead of the adaptation is simple but effective. Nothing else to really add.

Creed
The student became the master, and now the master has become the teacher for Rocky VII, where the infamous boxer trains the son of one-time rival Apollo Creed as played by Michael B. Jorden, and for someone who isn't a fan of sport I am surprisingly impressed by what I see. It was nice that the trailer decided to leave Rocky's appearance for the last minute or so to ensure it wasn't promoted solely as just another Rocky film, and we could have a surprise hit on our hands.

London Has Fallen
In 2013, the White House was attacked twice. First in Olympus has Fallen, and then in White House Down - the latter of which failing to best the other despite a more well-known cast, to everyone's surprise. But what's more surprising is that they decided to make a sequel set in another English-speaking country. Does it impress? No.

Steve Jobs
A film that was at one point at risk of not being made, it's impressive that in such little time it's become something which could be great. Fassbender is on point, Seth Rogen is somehow able to act serious, and Winslet seems to make the assistant role her own. Boy, am I interested in seeing this movie!

The Transporter Refueled
Another Hitman! Only British and killing with cars! Nothing more to add.

Ant-Man
The final trailer for the last of Marvel Phase 2 (released next week), this shorter trailer is a little over-reliant on Avengers references which many found a little unbearable during the other movies but has some slick editing, some occasional laughs and wonderful visual effects. I'm forever bummed I have to wait until the end of the month to see it.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip
Okay, hands up: who thought that the failure of the third film would lead to the franchise dying? Well, sadly we were all wrong, as this direct-to-DVD wannabe has popped up and is possibly at its most unbearable. For God's sake, just kill this franchise!

Bridge of Spies
Another trailer for the Tom Hanks/Steven Spielberg picture, and it continues to impress. Nothing majorly new compared to the first trailer just last month, but what newness it presents does nothing to hinder its overall quality.

The Finest Hours
What an odd-looking film. The trailer can't seem to make up its mind on whether it wants to focus on the ship which has become disrupted or on the relationship Chris Pine has with his significant other, and as such makes this look like a film which doesn't know what it wants to be. Disaster film or romance? Either way, it doesn't look overly appealing.

Goosebumps
While being slightly similar to the upcoming Pixels (another Sony Pictures property), Goosebumps does look a whole lot better. The premise is better done than its contemparies, there is surprisingly some good jokes and ideas coming out of it, and Jack Black is clearly having a lot of fun in a slightly different role for him. But many jokes do fail, and with its Pixels-esque motiff going on it may be one to proceed with caution going by this first trailer.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E
With the final film just two months away from release, this supposedly final tease for the 60s series adaptation does thebest it can not to reveal all the best bits in a 5 minute long promotion. And what's on show does look good, but just not strong enough to warrent any levels of excitement. It certainly has great gusto inflected in it, but outside of Guy Richie's direction it doesn't feel like anything overly new.

Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice
Fresh out of Hall H in San Diego comes our second look at the incoming DC Cinematic Universe catalyst, and it isn't quite as good as the teaser from April. Sure, the final minute of battling and Gal Gadot's multiple Wonder Woman poses allow for some testosterone-filled enjoyment, the first two minutes are a bit of a jumble of courtroom drama, Batman angst and Jesse Eisenberg with a hairdo which really doesn't look good on him. Then again, neither does the bald look from the previously released promotional photo. It has a chance of being a great film, and I am excited for the final product come March, but I can't help but worry.
