Trailer Talk: The Great Split Storks Story

T2: Trainspotting
A short but effective tease for a sequel that plenty of people are highly anticipating. Hardly delving into anything, but this is only 40 seconds of footage, so...

Office Christmas Party
T'is the season to receive festive movie trailers, it seems! And this 'joyous' comedy looks to be... little more than a standard comedy about a party that becomes insane. Eh, nothing new here, I'd say. Maybe even skip it, unless the marketing gets better or reviews are positive.

Split
Am I the only one not enamoured by this trailer? Because whilst this looks like a great performance from McAvoy there's not a lot to be taken by. Is it because it's an M. Night Shyamalan production? Because of the hidden twist? Or because of the bizarre concept about a guy with 23 split personalities. It's just a little too weird.

Ithaca
Intriguing how they credit the musical composer in this trailer as opposed to Tom Hanks. But hey, for a directorial debut this doesn't look too bad. Maybe even average. Probably slow and dull, though.

The Accountant
Still looks alright. The editing is well done, and judging from the calibre of the actors on show you can easily expect some great performances to be on hand. Still hasn't completely grabbed me, though - there's something about it which I can't exactly pinpoint.

Hacksaw Ridge
Now, this looks good. A true story about a pacifist on the battlefield, and with what looks like a stellar lead performance by Garfield, this could very well be a surprise hit... if people can overlook the fact that Mel Gibson directed it. Granted, that direction does look good, but Gibson is hardly an audience draw these days.

The Great Wall
You can always trust Zhang Yimou to create a stunning film, and it's great to see a US-China production getting this much promotion, but it's a pity that so much of discussion is pointed towards Matt Damon's casting as the presumed hero of China. Look, it's a film about men fighting monsters on the Great Wall of China and features a large cast of characters - Damon is just one guy who's just bankable enough to get more attention for the average moviegoer. No hidden agenda here at all.

Storks
I swear, if the Key & Peele wolves end up stealing the show here, I wouldn't be disappointed. Storks is looking to be a hilarious animated adventure that will almost certainly be worthwhile. At least, I hope it is.

Two Lovers and a Bear
I have no clue what this is or what it's about. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

Dunkirk
Oh boy, a new Christopher Nolan movie! And despite a small tease and a weird-looking extra, this is looking as good as a Nolan movie should be. And it looks even better on the big-screen... let the anticipation begin!

Moana
Let's see now... coconut-like creatures; lava demon; great animation, and a nice musical backdrop? Disney Animation is really spoiling us these days with their output.

I.T.
A computer hacker iteration of last year's The Gift? Okay, sounds alright - although I'm not sure why Pierce Brosnan's life is quite so easy to hack into, such as his car and plane...

Bad Santa 2
Alrighty then. This officially exists. People can live in peace again.

Arrival
Psst, Paramount Pictures! Keep up the good work with this film's marketing! Denis Villeneuve is known for some great films as of late and this here trailer is remarkably well-done, so if you could please keep up this level of secrecy that would be great, thanks.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter
1. Why doesn't this officially released trailer fill the video player?
2. What's with the seizure-inducing editing here?
3. How did this franchise reach six movies?!

The Great Gilly Hopkins
Well, this seems harmless enough. Younger audiences will easily have some fun with it whilst adults will tolerate it enough to survive.

Complete Unknown
An intriguing tale filled with mystery here, in what looks to be more of an actor's showcase for Rachel Weisz and Michael Shannon more than a satisfying story. Interesting? Perhaps, but this trailer isn't perhaps as great as one would presume from initial viewing.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Oh boy, Darth Vader! Despite all those worrisome reports of reshoots months ago, this new look at the first Star Wars spin-off is looking quite promising; filled with already iconic visuals such as the Death Star blocking out the sun and a wide of range of different characters. As a non-fan, I'm game for this new feature.

Allied
Robert Zemeckis directing a WWII drama starring Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard as an officer and a resistance fighter who fall in love despite the war? Colour me interested and ready to book a ticket - this looks really good.

War on Everyone
Eh.
